Terminals meter arrivals by window, so turning up two hours early on embarkation day frequently means standing outside the terminal, in South Florida sun, with your luggage, until your window opens. Ignoring it in the late direction is genuinely risky. The window is the last structured opportunity to check in before the terminal starts working through stragglers, and the ship's all-aboard time is fixed regardless.

So the target is simple: arrive inside your window, near its start. A chauffeured transfer is well suited to that because the pickup time is set once, in advance, against a known number — there is no waiting for a match, no surge, and no negotiating a pickup point on the morning itself.

What if you are flying in the same day?

Port Everglades advises allowing at least 45 minutes between your flight arriving and cruise check-in, to claim luggage and complete the terminal paperwork. Treat that as the floor, not the plan.

The geography is genuinely favourable here: Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) is, in the port's own words, just minutes from Port Everglades on US-1. Miami International Airport (MIA) is 30 to 45 minutes south of the port via I-95. That short FLL hop is why so many cruise passengers fly into Fort Lauderdale specifically.

What the 45-minute figure does not cover is the flight itself being late, and this is where same-day flying stops being an arithmetic problem and becomes a risk decision. A missed connection in Charlotte is not something any ground operator can absorb. A pre-arranged airport transfer tracks the inbound flight and repositions the chauffeur, which solves the ground half completely — it cannot move the ship.
