There is effectively one road into the Keys. Knowing when it moves — and when it does not — is most of the service.

Departure windows on private aircraft are more flexible than commercial, but the drive is not. We plan against the road, not the tail number.

On a run this long the vehicle matters. The Cadillac XT6 and the executive Sprinter are the ones we suggest.

Early departures south and late returns north are both normal here, and both answered by a person.

Respect the Drive

The distance from Boca Raton to Ocean Reef is roughly ninety miles, but mileage is not the useful number. The useful number is that there is essentially one road south — US-1 through Homestead and onto the eighteen-mile stretch into Key Largo — and when it backs up there is no alternative to take. On a quiet weekday morning the run is close to two hours. On a Friday in season, or a holiday weekend, it can be considerably more. We plan against the road rather than against the map: departure times are set with that variance in mind, and we would rather tell you to leave earlier than deliver you late to an aircraft. From Miami the drive is shorter — 75 to 100 minutes — which is why some guests fly commercial into MIA and transfer down rather than routing everything through Ocean Reef.

Getting the Vehicle Right

Two hours in a vehicle is long enough that the choice matters more than it does on an airport hop. For one to three passengers the Cadillac XT6 is the one we suggest — the roomier of the two Cadillacs, with the extra bag of luggage space that a Keys trip usually needs. For a group, the executive Mercedes Sprinter is the sensible answer: fourteen passengers and fourteen bags in one cabin with standing headroom, which on a two-hour run is a materially different experience from being split across two SUVs. What we would not recommend for this route is a coach. The party buses are built for short multi-stop evenings, not for the eighteen-mile stretch.

Booking an Ocean Reef Transfer

Tell dispatch the date, the direction, the passenger and bag count, and — if you are flying — the expected wheels-up or arrival window. Because private schedules move, we would rather know the shape of the day than a single fixed time, and adjust as it firms up. Ocean Reef is a private community with its own access procedures. If you are being collected from or delivered to a specific address inside it, give us that detail at booking rather than at the gate; it is the same discipline we apply on Palm Beach island, and for the same reason. This is not a same-hour booking route. Give us notice where you can — a vehicle committed to a four-hour round trip is planned differently from an airport run.
